I have been loosely following the campaign trails of the democratic candidates (the only ones that matter :)) and have decided that my support would go to Hillary Clinton. I share most of the same views and I just think that her presence leading this country would be a good change. I feel that if she took control it would be good for all of the liberal voters out there. Today’s 18-30 year olds have become more liberal and more open-minded in many aspects and I feel that a president that reflects the ever-changing nation would create more confidence in our government with today’s younger people. I think Hillary would be a very good leader and would also look better in the eyes of other nations. Other countries around the world have gone to women leaders and I feel it would be a good change for all citizens to experience.

Just wondering what you think of Barack Obama?
Well he would be my second choice…but I don’t think that he would facilitate as much change as Hillary would. Sure, he is black and that would be a big step for our country…but he is still going to act similar to any other male democratic President. Just because he is black doesnt mean he will be anything new and exciting. His stance on most issues are pretty close to those of Hillary, but I don’t really care for his views on family and religion. I don’t know why but Hillary just seems like she would be a better leader because she has been around all the political ins-and-outs for many years now. I don’t know, so the main reason that I prefer Hillary over Obama is because she is a strong woman who would be a great leader and I feel that kind of change would be more beneficial for the good of the country. Ooh and btw, I really don’t know everything there is to know about either candidate, I’m just merely stating what my opinion lol.
I usually vote Democratic (no? really??!?) but I still haven’t made up my mind in the primaries. I guess I’ll vote for whoever wins? There doesn’t seem to be a huge difference in the candidates, and the whole “vote for change” thing is REALLY getting old.
I must say I was disappointed with Sen. Kerry for endorsing Obama. Not that Obama’s not good, but he chose Edwards as his running mate three years ago. So much for loyalty in politics!
Yeah Kerry was being a jerk doing that, but I think it was because Edwards said, after the 04 election, that it was Kerry’s fault that they lost and that he didn’t go after the Republican attacks strongly enough.
On Clinton and Obama, as I said in class today, I’m going for Obama, but it’s true that they are pretty close on the issues. The problem with Hillary is that she might not be as electable as other candidates like Edwards and Obama. In polls she gets really high negative numbers where other candidates don’t. I don’t really know why, but some people just hate the woman. But anyway, no matter the outcome, this year is going to be exciting for politics.
Personally I think that Hillary was a terrific senator for NY. She’s a strong leader. I also think that as President she would do a much better job than her husband - and not just for the obvious reason that first come to mind! Obama has his strong points as well. I really enjoyed reading about his background. He seems more down-to-earth, more approachable, than most of the other candidates. There are other good candidates out there, but these two are in the lead for me. And like Kay said, the “vote for change thing”, although significant, is getting worn out….SO I think we should look more at the issues.
